Title: Penske Wants Ferrari Engines for IndyCar
Post by: cosworth151 on July 14, 2020, 02:23:34 PM
Roger Penske says he only wants Ferrari for the third engine supplier for IndyCar. It looks like a repeat of his attempt in the 80's and early 90's to make CART into a rival for F1.

Given cost controls coming to F1, Ferrari needs someone to buy something so they can keep theirpeople employed.

Seems to make sense for both parties, Indycars need a 3rd supplier to ensure they don't become a one engine series and Ferrari, as Jeri points out, has plenty spare capacity due to F1 budget cap.

Not sure this is aimed beyond good business for both.
