Title: F1 set for 8 days of testing of new 2022 cars
Post by: John S on October 14, 2021, 02:26:24 PM
Guess they should have more days since its an all new concept next year, but is it right to have 5 days in Spain in February? - We all know the weather can be poor there in Feb.

Might it not be better use a track a bit further south like Portimao for instance, or even split the test between the 2?

I think Bahrain's trying to reduce the number of mass event exemptions for F1 (it can cover the three-day test and opening round on the same exemption because most people won't leave the country between the two events).

Since it was the only Middle East nation offering F1 a test venue, Spain or Portugul were the only other options. Not sure why Barcelona specifically is getting the nod.
