Minardi are back?????
« on: March 28, 2006, 11:34:35 PM »
Controversial former Minardi owner Paul Stoddart has filed an entry for the 2008 Formula 1 championship this week, little over six months after selling his squad to Red Bull. The application was lodged under the "European Minardi F1 Team Ltd."

The FIA has opened up the entry process for the '08 season this week, at a cost of just $300,000. The deadline for new squads willing to join the championship expires on Friday.

"We've got the cars we ran in Melbourne last year, we've got the team and we've got the facility," the Australian told the Reuters news agency. "We are in a better position than anyone, other than a current F1 team, to compete.

Stoddart is not guaranteed the final grid spot, there are several other new teams in the offering.

Should Minardi come back to F1? or make way for another team such as David Richard's Prodrive?

Formula one needs as many teams as it can.  Back in the late 80's there was so many teams they did not have enough garages for all the teams.  Like Onyx, Lola Larousse, Zackspeed.

But you need teams that have a chance to race with the others to make the series more intresting.  The new Auguri team has done wonders with the car they have so with a little bit more help they could start getting in the top 10 by the end of the year.  Paul Stodart can come back as can Dave Richards and Roger Penske but they just need to have all the right things and cost to make it work.
