James Bond will once again fight to save the world. His opponent this time? How about Freddie Mercury?
The good news is that Daniel Craig will be back for this 5th outing as 007. The villain will be played Rami Malek, who played Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. No title (or script) yet. Release is slated for next April.

Scaramouche had better not do any world ending fandangos before Bond can stop him.
I am interested to see what impact Phoebe Waller-Bridge will have. Although I have never seen Fleabag, I did think Killing Eve was outstanding (apart from the ending that left the door wide open for Season 2). The Craig films have gone downhill since Casino Royale so I hope she can inject some excitement into the new movie.

Bond movies have always been hit or miss. Don't see why it should be any different with Daniel Craig in the tux :P

Bond and other action films should try to keep the CGI out of their action scenes. It just gets too stupid. It's one thing if you are trying to do a Deadpool 2 opening scene which is clearly poking fun at the ridiculousness of CGI, but using it to take a good stunt and make it completely defy physics is something else.
As for the upcoming Bond movie...I'll enjoy it, but at the moment I don't see a better candidate than Daniel Craig, now that we're familiar with him, but I hope they take him back to the grittiness of his first Bond movie.
Rami Malek will make a great villain, as long as they let him develop his own character and leave out the cliche lines that could make him took to comic book like.

I read the books, all of them. They are substantially different than the movies. When I discovered the they weren't the same, I didn't see very many more of the movies. :DntKnw:

The books are infinitely better than the movies, that is for sure. Under Moore the films became far more whimsical, little nods at 'Britishness' and outlandish technological ideas. The great thing about Casino Royale was that it felt more like the vision of Bond from the books that I remembered (minus the recipes for scrambled eggs). It was more visceral and lacked the over the top nature of how the franchise had gone since Moore (don't get me wrong, I liked Moore, I enjoy all the Bond movies to an extent) and Craig talked about keeping that way. Then the in jokes started and the tech crept in.

I read the books, all of them. They are substantially different than the movies. When I discovered the they weren't the same, I didn't see very many more of the movies. :DntKnw:
I only read one Bond book, and it wasn't a Fleming book. I didn't realize that they had let other authors write Bond.
The book was good enough, but I read it in the early 90s, and don't remember much about it. I'm not a huge fan of the 'spy novel' genre.

For a while in the 60's through the 80's, many of the paperback copies were novelizations of the movies rather than the original novels. It was really bad.
