Questionable town planning
« on: January 29, 2017, 11:26:24 PM »
The local council has installed a shiny new public defibrillator for my town centre, accessible 24 hours a day from the street (with a code 999 provides).

It's outside the local funeral shop.

My local councillors must have a weird sense of humour...

:swoon:  It reminds me of growing up in the 50's & 60's. In many small American towns (Like Lancaster), the funeral homes operated ambulance services. There were even commercially available combination ambulance/hearse packages for Caddys & Lincolns.

That makes more sense to me :)

For many years, before it got its own professional track rescue service, Indianapolis and other American tracks used that exact same service for its medical cover. There was a saying "if the ambulance turned left out of the gate, the driver is dead as the funeral home is that way, if it turns right, the driver may live as that way is the hospital."

They had removable panels with landau irons that went over the last set of side windows when they were being used as a hearse.

Many years ago my daily driver was an old Cadillac Hearse (it was affordable), often took it to the motorcycle races... I was not very popular. My girl friend was the undertaker's daughter which didn't help.

I always thought that Ecto-1 (the Ghostbusters car) was a hearse.  It wasn't until I watched a documentary about restoring the original car that I learned it was in fact an ambulance.

(The car in the remake movie is a hearse though)

The new Ghostbusters is one of very few movies I've turned off...pretty bad

I don't get the hate for the new one.  I loved it, and while I wouldn't put it above the original one, it's superior in many ways.

+1 I liked it too. Not a 5 star, but acceptably funny.

Only seen the trailer so far, but it didn't do it's job and hasn't lured me to even download it yet.
