Cosworth is struggling to find a formula one partner to power beyond the 2006 season.
The last independent engine supplier on the grid, Northampton-based Cosworth is set to lose for 2007 the custom of current teams Williams (Toyota) and Scuderia Toro Rosso (Renault or Ferrari).
Presently Toyota-powered Spyker-MF1 was believed to have been in talks with Cosworth chiefs, but is now closer to signing a Ferrari deal for next year.
Cosworth's Head of F1 Development, Alex Hitzinger, told Motor Sport Aktuell: ''At the moment we have not signed a contract with any team.''
