Title: GPWizard Migration
Post by: Wizzo on January 14, 2015, 11:14:35 AM
The current server that is hosting GPWizard is getting a little old now and the plan is to migrate the site to another server in the next few days.

The site may well be off line for a day or two whilst everything is transferred over. I'm sure you can appreciate the complexity of getting everything working again so please be patient and we will be back on-line before you know it.

Rather you than me Wiz, I wouldn't have a clue how to set a site up. Don't worry about patience, we have plenty of that, we need it with Dare.

Thank you for warning us. Hope everything goes smoothly and you can soon get back to worrying about which new car is about to commit crimes against sloth...

Best of luck with the change-over. We'll all be in the withdrawal clinic afterwards.

Yes, these server moves are not always as straightforward.  I hope that it all goes according to plan :).

Hi All,

After a bit longer than expected, purely down to the size of the site and database, the move is now complete.  Please post here if you fond anything not working as there may be some configuration updates that have been missed (file paths, permissions etc.) and we will fix asap.

Thanks for your patience :-)

If your avatar is not showing can a few of you let me know whether it is a system avatar or one you uploaded.  If you uploaded it any chance you know the original filename?

Is it just me or is it taking ages, like over a minute or so, for each page to load on the site this weekend?

Last week it was fine but it seems to have slowed to a crawl since Saturday. All the other sites I visit still load in a few secs so I know it's not my internet connection or my

I've run a few tests and all looks OK to me, obviously this was at the time the tests were completed so its not full proof. Would anyone else please advise if you're experiencing any problems.

Try clearing the browser cache, Ian. Your browser's probably trying to cross-reference the old version and wondering why it's getting redirects on the various elements...

I find it pretty quick loading.

When in doubt, re-boot Ian.  Clearing your cache and generally just getting the cobwebs out of your computer by a re-start.

Been upgrading my laptop and when I checked in, the site asked me to log in. Tried my usual array of passwords with no success so I asked to reset my password. Asked 3 times for an e mail but got nothing. Eventually got in, but got no response to a reset request.

Thanks for the feedback. The site was indeed not sending out emails for password resets and newsletters etc so this has been very helpful.

All resolved now.  :good:
