Title: Whadda Mistaka da Maka
Post by: Wizzo on October 10, 2008, 03:14:52 PM

Opportunists have been busying registering a host of web addresses with the words 'Pasta Hut' following the rebranding of the fast food chain Pizza Hut.

Just as the red Pizza Hut signs are being taken down across outlets in Britain, NetNames reports that there has been a raft of domain name registrations including www.pastahut.net, www.pastahut.info and www.pastahut.org.

Even the website www.pastahut.com has been registered with the owner displaying their contact details, most likely with a view to selling it to the highest bidder.

Pasta Hut is to spend £100m in its rebranding and expansion over the next six years. However, it appears that is has lost out to web-savvy entrepreneurs at the first hurdle.

The UK subsidiary of Pizza Hut will have spent much time and money planning for this rebrand, however they have failed to register some of the key domain names relating to their online brand.  :fool:

In April an American man sold the domain name pizza.com, for which he paid $20, for $2.6m (around £1.3m).  :o
