'The King is gone. Long live the King,' exclaimed headline of Super Express.

On a day at Monza that was dominated by the resignation of Michael Schumacher, the Polish newspaper is clearly referring to the maiden podium last Sunday of 21-year-old Robert Kubica.

Despite the third placed qualifying of his experienced teammate Nick Heidfeld, Kubica - the Krakow-born Pole - reached the top three in only his third Formula One Grand Prix.

Nationwide Polish daily Rzeczpospolita heralded him as the 'new star of Polish sport', while Gazeta Wyborcza said that despite only recently emerging from BMW-Sauber's test cockpit, the youngster is now 'among the sport's heroes'.
