Say what you will, Kimi has class
« on: November 10, 2012, 10:57:28 AM »
After all the attention his recent race radio comments made while he went on to victory, he has put an exclamation on it and had 500 T-Shirts made up with the radio message, signed and given to all the team members at Lotus.

:DD  :DD  :DD Love it, the pit radio from Kimi in Abu Dhabi has changed my opinion on him. I want one of those t-shirts.

I'd like one myself, and I know that my daughter would love one. I'll bet Lotus could make major coin selling them.

I thought that it was unprofessional, and a poor example to up and coming younger drivers in other formulae.  He could say that behind closed doors, and I'd have no problem, but it's not the sort of thing that he should be saying on the radio in my opinion.

Oh come on Irisado, Kimi IS a professional, he was just showing that he IS human too, I've never been a fan of his but I've never doubted his driving ability. He never needed to be told to work his tyres behind the S/C, he knew he had to, unlike some other drivers who need to be stroked all the time.

Kimi has more than class, he's an individual too.

Imagine if everyone was nice all the time. Ugh!

The race is 90 minutes long, the radio is on the whole time.

It's not really meant for public consumption either.  It was the FIA that chose for us to hear that, not Kimi.

It was a GREAT example for up and coming drivers.  The man in the car should be in charge of the car, not some busy body on the pit wall who wishes to race F1 cars.

I'm a professional, and I can't say that sort of stuff in a public domain when I'm teaching or presenting my research.  I can say it, should I feel the need, out of the public domain.  I'm not questioning that he's a professional racing driving, but I am saying that his comments were unprofessional.

He still knows that there is potential for the message to be broadcast.

You can be in charge of the car without making derogatory comments about the role of the team and engineer.  He could have said something along the lines of 'okay, but I'll radio you if I need to know anything else' or words to that effect.  It conveys the same message without being so officious.

Kimi never swore on the pit radio so I can't see what the problem is.

I was a professional too before I retired.
