Webber's future?
« on: April 15, 2013, 02:56:15 AM »
Kate Walker  http://www.f1katewalker.com/index.html tweeted this morning that rumor in the Shanghai paddock had Mark signing a contract with Porsche for the WEC beginning in 2014.

If true, that's too bad.  I think Webber still has more to give (or get from) F1.  If Perez doesn't work out at Mclaren, he would be a good fit along with Button, or a lead driver at almost any other team.  I would think his time at RBR is certainly done, but there must be other options.  :DntKnw:

Radio Le Mans talked about the same issue yesterday. Kimi is talking about going to RBR next season, too. On the other hand, Porsche says Webber will not be part of the pre-Le Mans tests.

I'd love to see Webber stay in F1. It's no secret that he's my favorite current F1 driver, even more so since Vettel has turned to the dark side. That said, I think it's obvious that he has no future at RBR.

Mark in McLaren would be the perfect match, though I have a feeling that Mclaren would at some point bank on Perez's Mexican backing Telmex. Still if there is a opening at Lotus (if Kimi decides to switch) or in Ferrari (Remember Massa's contract will expire in 2013). He is too good to call it a day.

If Massa continues as he has been, I think he will be retained by Ferrari. He has really bounced back from thee doldrums of last year and seems to accept being #2. I think it's very possible he will win a race this year. Perez connection to Telmex may be why McLaren seems unconcerned by  losing Vodafone. Perhaps Mark has signed a contract that allows him to back out if he gets an F1 ride.
