According to the wind-tunnel analysis, 2021 cars will lose just 10% downforce when following another.
Current cars lose as much as half of their downforce when in the wake of another.
Ground-effect aerodynamics is hoped to keep speeds high without producing turbulence, with further tweaks set to follow – particularly to front wing designs.

I know aero is much more advanced today, but the last generation of Ground Effects cars were able to pass each other. I have some hope.
