Camouflaged LED-covered Merc appears virtually invisible. :D
Do ya think the Red Baron might ask for similar treatment on his racecar if he hasn't moved up the grid a bit after a couple of races this season. ;) :DD

I know that Mercedes is a bit of a common brand in Europe, but in Canada/USA it's a top end brand. The only point of buying a Mercedes is so people can see you driving a Mercedes.

Merc's are common in England too Jeri.

I wonder if they got the idea from the Bond movie Die Another Day? ;)

Just taxi cabs here - gotta go a lot more upscale than that to impress a Swiss. :tease: :tease:
PS - I'll remind you I'm Canadian...even though I don't think I'd want to own a Merc, to be honest I couldn't afford most of them. ;)

Here in the States, when somebody says Merc we start thinking of Comets, Cougars and Turnpike Cruisers. ;)
-
There's a lot of Mercedes here, whether they lease them or
own them is another question
-
That's really cool! :good:
Mercedes are pretty common here in Northern Ireland too, even me old pops has a C-Class. In Germany I reckon 90% of taxi's are Mercs as well as 20% of personal cars. The others are all BMW, VW, & Ford.

Off-topic (go figure!) but Top Gear earlier this year made a "Top Gear at the Movies" special and one of their bits was where they tried to build their own invisible Bond car using flat-panel LCDs and cameras. It was very funny! You can see 1 second glimpses of the results at the 33 and 38 seconds mark of this Youtube trailer:

Ah, I wish they hadn't done that. Now we are going to have to put up with LED covered Veyrons and 599 photos from the UAE and Escalades from the states.

Isn't England considered part of Europe?

I was careful to use Mercedes :) My first car was a Merc. The 99 Cougar (which was actually a rebadged Ford Cougar meant for Europe)

Shhhh, don't tell them ;) :tease: :tease: :tease:

I will NEVER call myself European.

The Mercury Cougar was a very nice car that Ford USA didn't seem to know what to do with. If they had gotten behind it with some good advertising it might have taken off.

My understanding was it met North American sales goals, but didn't meet the European sales goals (which was the intended market)
I do understand some people thought a FWD Cougar didn't make any sense. I can appreciate the sentiment, but the car was very nice. Very refined for the price point. A Cougar by any other name drives as sweet.
