$8000!  That's a big mistake.

I watched the whole thing...seems like the guy with the walkie-talkie was a bit out of his depth.  No way should the bi-plane have been allowed to do a low pass while RCs are in the air (we have a local air show here, and RC's are not allowed to take off while a full-size plane is in the air.  End of story.  Lucky the pilot wasn't killed.   :o :o

Plenty of blame to go around. Seems like no one was doing air traffic control. The Bipe should never have been shooting the runway like that, not only because of the models, but because of the PEOPLE. 30 seconds sooner and he would have hit the model and it's pilot. :swoon: And apparantly he did not ask for clearance to buzz the runway, a big no no. I don't see how the modeller is at fault, obviously there was a meet on and he was part of the show. As for his $8000, if you fly it, it will crash. I know how he feels, but those are the breaks, I'm afraid.

When a runway is closed for special ops, like an air show or demo, a large "X" is supposed to be placed on each end of the runway. Nobody in the vid mentioned if the runway is X'ed out or not. Their would-be "Air Boss" with the hand held didn't seem to have any idea what he was doing.
