Views: 76 | Comments: 0 This little dust up in the middle east is causing logistic delays in getting gear and team members to the show. Kym Illman had a good video on YT about it. Since no flights are passing through Dubai or Qatar teams are having to go the long way from the UK to get to Melbourne. Does look like the show will go on though. Views: 252 | Comments: 0 Seems like Toto was up to usual F1 sandbagging when protesting heavily about change of Regs on engine compression, he's now voted in favour of new earlier hot testing. ![]() He'll say it was about the principal of fairness to stick to the printed rulebook, and that's a good point, however he was probably not as fussed as other PU makers were over subject, it appears he simply used the controversy to wind up rivals. ![]() According to Motorsport-Magazin, the proposal to introduce a new fuel compression ratio check in August is off aggenda. It will now arrive in June instead, suprisingly all 5 engine makers voted in favour - even Merc. ![]() Mercedes’ rivals changed their minds about the August timeline after Toto Wolff’s surprisingly positive reaction. Two months earlier than planned, the engines will be tested at 130 degrees, in addition to the pre-existing room temperature checks. From 2027, the power units will only be measured when hot. Contrary to the prevailing understanding, the compression ratio actually drops on track, so it should be easier to comply with the 16:1 limit in theory. Now for the rub: Motorsport-Magazin also reports Merc have apparently found a way to reach 16.3:1 at temperature, much lower than the 18:1 that’s been widely touted but still a meaningful advantage, with competitors only at 15.2:1 when hot. ![]() February 27, 2026, 07:45:48 PM by Jericoke
Views: 340 | Comments: 0 https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/netflix-first-live-f1-race-canadian-gp-apple-tv-deal/ I don't understand business at all. Apple TV is paying a lot of money to get F1 streaming rights. Good for them, good for F1, I guess. Now they've got a deal with Netflix to show a race or two? I know that Drive to Survive, on Netflix has been very good for F1's bottom line, so I understand F1 and Netflix wanting to work closer together. Similarly, F1 and Apple collaborated on a very successful movie, so I understand them want to work closer together. I find it somewhat odd that all three have managed to work out... whatever it is they've worked out. In Canada, one company owns the rights to NHL games (nationally: each team has their own regional deal), and they overpaid, so now they have sold the rights to Monday night games to Amazon Prime. I don't know if this is that sort of deal, especially since Apple hasn't shown a single race to know what the value will be to them. February 27, 2026, 03:26:31 PM by John S

Views: 708 | Comments: 0 'Laser powered bed fusion' - what's that you may be thinking? Well it's complete control of the varied materials you can include in 3D printed metals/carbon alloy pistons and other parts. However Laser powered bed fusion is probably not what's behind Merc & Red Bull push to open permitted compression gap from 16:1 to 18:1 at higher temps. It's more likely its the connecting rods that are being targeted to gain on compression. We all knew F1 was future tech, some of this stuff is verging on Star Trek territory. ![]()
