Who knew there was so much going on with this almost mystical element of race cars?   :swoon:  Not me - anyways!!!

That was a very interesting article. Good find, John!  :good:

Anderson mentions IndyCar using "spool" diffs. Here's a pix of the ultimate version of that. It's a display in the museum at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway showing an early 60's vintage Gasoline Alley garage. Note the rear axle assembly on the floor to the right of the car. It's a one piece, solid axle with a gear bolted up in the middle of it.
