Title: Ferrari Mixes Tires in FP1
Post by: cosworth151 on April 04, 2014, 12:58:36 PM
At about 50 minutes in to FP1 at Bahrain this morning, Ferrari started to send Alonso out with 3 white mediums and one yellow soft on the left front. He was stopped in the pit lane & rolled back to the box. Looking at the replay, I could see Alonso looking back & forth at the fronts just before stopping. It looked like he spotted the error himself.

It seems that Ferrari has Velcro patches on the tire blankets to identify the contents. It seems that one had the wrong ID patch.

I hope they are not making mistake like this with other parts as well. I wonder if it happened to Kimi, what would have been his reaction  :DntKnw: "Meh..."  :DD

That did bring a smile to my face.  It reminded me of the 'they've lost one of Irvine's tyres' moment from the 1999 European Grand Prix, although it was nowhere near as costly as that.
