Title: 1:42.08 to Qualify, 60's racing film
Post by: cosworth151 on November 04, 2022, 03:52:57 PM
This is a 1966 student film made by a USC film student. It was originally called "1:42.08 to Qualify" but later shortened to "1:42.08." It features Pete Brock throwing a borrowed Lotus 23 around the great Riverside International Raceway. 7 minutes & 21 seconds of fun.

Here's Pete's memories of it:

The camera car shown in Pete's article appears to be a first gen Corvair coupe.

The film student was some kid named George Lucas. I wonder what ever happened to him.  ;)

Always loved the Lotus 23. Though they mostly sported various Ford engines you could find all sorts of other motors stuffed in the back. If memory serves George Follmer won the USRRC in a Porsche powered Lotus back in the '60's.
