The BBC has revealed it is to keep production of its grand prix coverage ‘in-house', with two names emerging as key players for the major presenting roles.
Radio Five Live commentator David Croft is believed to have been earmarked for the lead commentating spot, according to Pitpass, with BBC stalwart Adrian Chiles set to take over Steve Rider's current position as the main presenter.
Rumours persist that BBC's hugely popular Top Gear team – comprising Jeremy Clarkson, Richard ‘Hamster' Hammond and James May, as well as the infamous Stig – will play some kind of part in the shows, but there appears to be little room for any of ITV-F1's current line-up of Rider, Martin Brundle, James Allen, Mark Blundell, Louise Goodman and Ted Kravitz et al.

Makes sense I suppose for two reasons; 1, new faces will give it a fresh look and feel. 2, having paid quite a lot, in Beeb terms, for F1 they need to keep costs in check and the old team would probably expect the same, if not more, extravagant salaries but new faces will cost much less.

nightmare. >:(

Adrian Chiles would make James Allen seem like a legend in my humble opinion.

Simply because BBC want to keep production in-house doesn't stop the in-house production company from procuring outside staff. It's just that we can probably rule out Steve Rider and James Allen because those two places sound taken.

Al beeb will probably drop lap times for the grid and start using the size of a teams carbon footprint
-
Martin Brundle has already said he is in talks with the BBC and for then not to include him would be stupidity.
David Croft taking over from James Allen would be refreshing.
Adrian Chile fronting the show is also fine.
I would like to Suzy Perry taking over from Louise Goodman. :-*

When the BBC deal was first announced Suzy Perry said she had no interest in switching to F1.

With apologies to the great Henny Youngman:
"Take Darrell Waltrip...........Please!"

Boogity Boogity off. :nono:
You can keep him over the pond and out of harms way, thanks very much.

It seems odd that the BBC are not interested in the ITV team as most of them started at the Beeb.

Why Adrian Chiles (for anything). He knows nothing about motor sport (he knows nothing about soccer but he still fronts up football shows). He talks over people all of the time. He is completely carried by the female presenters on BBC's The One Show. He would be absolutely useless.
I'm off to find the BBC complaints department!
