Title: Super Aguri Passes Crash Test
Post by: cosworth151 on February 08, 2008, 05:37:10 PM
Super Aguri has confirmed that its new SA08 car passed the FIA’s mandatory crash tests on Thursday – meaning the team has been officially cleared to compete in 2008.

“I can confirm that the SA08 monocoque was signed off for racing by the FIA yesterday,” a spokeswoman said. (Emma Bearpark, I assume)

This makes it seem much more likely that the team will make the field at Melbourne, in spite of their well-known financial woes.

It's not yet clear what the SA08 is based on. Hopefully not last year's Honda RA 107. The RA 107 was best described by one of its drivers, Jenson Button, as "a pile of sh*t."

Honda may have insisted it be based on the RA 107, after all they don't want to be shown up 2 years in a row!   :tease:

This is great news for Super Aguri (even if it is the RA107). Better to be racing with a slow car than (as appeared distinctly possible for a time) not race at all...
