Testing Paul Ricard and Vallelunga: Day 1
« on: March 22, 2006, 05:56:02 PM »
Mclaren has kicked off their in season testing today with Pedro de la Rosa clocking up 155 laps of the Paul Ricard circuit. Posting a best time of 1m14.264! Gary Paffet was sceduled to be on track to complete a tyre evaluation for the Australian GP, but bad weather hampered their chances of a successful test so he should be on track in the interim MP4-20 tomorrow joint by Renault, Toyota and BMW-Sauber.

Meanwhile Anthony Davidson and James Rossiter were at Vallelunga representing Honda. Davidson completed 140 laps and Rossiter 97 when the track dried out at 2pm. Honda will continue to have exclusive use of Vallelunga for the remainder of the week.

Bring on Australia!

Do you have internet access at work? If so, listen to it live on 5 Live.

Can't you pretend to be ????

I'm sure you will record it and watch it later. Funny, all this talk about F1 not getting much coverage, isn't it always the way that when you have tapped a race you always hear the results from somewhere!!!  >:(

Renault tester Heikki Kovalainen was the fastest man for the second straight day at the French circuit of Paul Ricard, where Renault, BMW, McLaren and Toyota are testing this week in preparation for the Australian GP on April 2.

Last year's GP2 Series runner-up logged over two full grand prix distances - 213 laps in total - to end up with a best time of 1:04.400, or half a second quicker than BMW's Nick Heidfeld in the second spot on the timesheets. The McLaren duo of testers Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett came next, with the Toyotas of Jarno Trulli and Ricardo Zonta completing the day's runners, again significantly off the pace - Trulli trailed Kovalainen by 1.3s in the short 3E SC layout of the Le Castellet facility.

Honda and Ferrari carried on solo work at the Vallelunga and Fiorano circuits in Italy. The Japanese manufacturer's team was hampered by rain, with Rubens Barrichello and test driver Anthony Davidson completing 46 and 82 laps respectively. At Fiorano, Tester Luca Badoer covered 120 laps aboard the 248 F1 at the Scuderia's private track, with a fastest mark of 58.369.
