Agreed. Racing in F1 is about being the fastest, not about being the best power manager. We have the WEC for that.

Lift and coast on a quail lap?
That's not what I watch F1 for!
Where's my V8's and V10's?  :yahoo:

I think that F1 cars had recently become 'too easy' to drive.  We've all seen the radio broadcasts of racers who clearly are focused on things besides the race.

They've changed that, so there's more though required to race a modern f1 car that involves power management.  So maybe there's a learning curve, and they're all feeling a little overwhelmed having to learn new skills.  Like any new skill, it's frustrating until you've mastered it, so we'll see what happens after a few races, who has 'mastered' the skills and who wants a race car to be just slamming your foot down and trusting the engineers.

Hamilton says regen will affect faster tracks more than slower ones. At Barcelona even a qualifying lap requires around 600 meters of lift and coast. At Bahrain it's less because of more braking zones for slower corners.

Max says the new cars require a lot of power management and are not very fun to drive. He may look for something new.

Re-gen of bigger battery means a big rethink of how cars need to enter corners, making life difficult for drivers without extreme cat like prowess, or in cars with unstable chassis

The article below headlines others copying Max, however deeper in it reveals most will have been practising First gear corner entry on the Sim runs, data suggested early on it's best for Re-Gen.

Entertainment, Games & Computers / Re: F1 Movie Sequel?
« Last post by cosworth151 on February 11, 2026, 08:25:04 PM »
The movie was better than I expected but still not on a par with Grand Prix, Rush or other non-F1 racing films like Le Mans or Ford vs Ferrari. I can also remember sequels to outstanding films that were absolute dogs. (Does anyone remember  Independence Day: Resurgence?) We can all hope for the best if they go forward with this.

I wish they would adjust those box office figures for inflation but I guess that would defeat what they're trying to make us believe.  ;)

Maybe they'll do a Star Wars tie-in & put Darth Vader on the Dark Side.

Entertainment, Games & Computers / F1 Movie Sequel?
« Last post by Jericoke on February 11, 2026, 03:14:04 PM »

Surprising no one who knows how Hollywood works:  the biggest sports movie of all time (in terms of $$$ earned) is going to be getting a sequel.

I don't have a problem with this.  If it's boosting F1, that's great.  If the movie involves F1 people to bring authenticity, that's great.

No idea what the story will be, I'd like to see Pitt's character moving on to a non car role.  (Team management?  Maybe test/reserve driver, having an unrealistic amount of in season testing, and then having to race to show the young guns how to get the most out of the car 'in combat'?)

I did see a comment someone made, they'd love to see a LeMans movie, with Pitt reprising his Hayes role, joined by Tom Cruise in his Cole Trickle role from Days of Thunder.
