« on: June 26, 2007, 07:40:31 PM »
Here's the Press release:

26 June 2007
Press release

LEWIS HAMILTON IN FIRST BIG SCREEN
PERFORMANCE AS Vue BROADCASTS LIVE
ACTION OF BRITISH GRAND PRIX

For the first time in Formula One(TM) history, fans will be able to watch the Grand Prix live on the big screen, thanks to Vue Cinemas, which is broadcasting the British Grand Prix directly from Silverstone to 30 multiplexes across the UK on Sunday 8 July in amazing HD Quality and Dolby Digital 5:1 Surround Sound.

This will be a great opportunity to watch British phenomenon Lewis Hamilton pursue his winning streak in a way that is truly "larger than live"! As an added bonus, the race action will be uninterrupted by commercial breaks.

Tickets for the unique broadcast event on Sunday 8 July are available now from www.myvue.com, or by calling 08712 240 240, or directly from participating cinemas. Only 7,000 seats are up for grabs at £15 each. Family tickets are also available from £30* - the action starts at 12.45pm.

Every Vue ticket holder will receive a free official race program (which normally costs £10), plus a soft drink and popcorn. Vue audiences will also be able to enjoy all the action of the Grand Prix in the luxury and comfort of spacious, stadium seating, conveniently located at a local multiplex. The live race broadcast is the result of a groundbreaking global partnership between Vue and Supervision.

Mark de Quervain, Sales and Marketing Director for Vue Entertainment said: "Vue audiences can enjoy the full excitement of the British Grand Prix on massive screens with superior quality sound and images. Our race coverage will be live and non-stop, with no advertising breaks, so fans won't miss a second of the action. It will be an amazing day out for sports fans and families and is just the beginning. This is the first of many Grand Prix broadcasts in partnership with Supervision which broadens Vue's offering to our customers."

John Webber, Chairman of Supervision said: "We are very excited to bring Formula One to the big screen together with Vue Entertainment."

 About Vue Entertainment
Vue Entertainment is one of the UK's leading multiplex developers and operators of state-of-the -art multiplex cinemas. Formed in May 2003, Vue is one of the fastest growing cinema companies in the country. Having acquired the Ster Century cinema chain at the end of April 2005, Vue announced a management buyout in June 2006 in partnership with Bank of Scotland Corporate, through its Integrated Finance Team, in a deal valued in the region of £350 million. Vue now owns 59 multiplexes across the UK and Ireland, with over 570 screens, and continues its expansion with a programme of building new multiplexes across the UK, involving plans to open 15 to 20 new sites in the next two to three years. The company has the most modern cinemas in the UK, with over 90 percent stadium seating and as a result it won the prestigious award for International Exhibitor of the Year at Cinema Expo 2005.

CEO Tim Richards was awarded the title of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2006 and he also won the Leisure Report Individual of the Year award.

Could be a great atmosphere though, is anyone going to give this a try?

I'll be in the departure lounge of East Midlands airport for the duration of the GP.

Partner doesn't know yet that we'll be arriving at the airport two hours before we need to! (but she'll be cool about it - she's a big Jarno fan!)

Bit of a difference to last year though, when she surprised me by producing two weekend grandstand tickets two days before first practice!

Just hope they've got the tele tuned to the right channel!

Sounds like a great idea, too bad it would never
work in the US.

Too few fans and 8am starting time on most
European gp's wouldn't work
