Title: 'I' Don't Drive!
Post by: Wizzo on June 01, 2007, 10:16:55 AM

Arrgghh! The 'I Drive' system on my BMW has lost it's mind, it started off as a few flickers of the screen and now its completely dead.

BMW have had a look and the whole unit needs replacing (under warranty thankfully) and then the car needs rebooting and reprogramming which will take two days!

The car is booked in for the 11th but until then I have no CD player, radio, sat nav or parking sensors - I don't even have a clock!

Cars are far too clever these days!

You could do what we used to do in high school for a deluxe audio system: toss a battery casette player on the seat!

Even better Wizard, go back to the hi-tech Bond, you know, lift up the bonnet and kick it over to start it, never needed programming and the only reboots were a couple of tyres now and then. Sat nav ?, you just looked out of the top and at the stars. Parking sensors ?, we made do with mirrors and eyes.
