  • Wizzo: GPW will be down from approximately 13:30 tomorrow until the migration to the new server is complete. Once the site is "live" on the new server it could take another 24-48 hours to become accessible to all users.

Good find, John. Thanks!

I've always had a soft spot for the BRM H-16. The sound was unforgettable. The idea came from the successful World War II Napier Sabre H-24 fighter plane engine. Too bad they couldn't make it work.

I think they gave Honda credit for some stuff Renault invented. I caught a few other minor faults but overall pretty good.

From the 4.5 litre/1.5 supercharged regs of the 50s, thru inline 4s and 8s, V12s and 16s - and even a huge V-twin, to 1.6 turbo monsters, then latter day V10s & V8s, and on to the current MgK/MgH assisted V6s.

Quite a journey, lubricated by real headspace ingenuity & loads of risk taking.

Other Sports / Take a ride round this weekend's Extreme E X Prix desert track

Reminds me more of Star Wars pod racing on Tatooine than Dakar style buggies.  :D

What strange a noise cacophony from the vehicle to accompany the desert views.

I found this handy vid of all the lap record holders for this seasons tracks.

Surprising thing for me - there's still one unequalled record that Michael still holds.

With cars this year slower than previous iterations will many track records get taken this year?

Good find Lonny, thanks I enjoyed watching that.  :good:

Let's not overlook Fangio calling Jim the greatest ever.  :swoon:

He shut the engine off in one corner every lap to save the engine from oil starvation - and still won the race! Absolutely incredible! (and absolutely Jim Clark!)

"He won the 1963 Spa race by 5 minutes in the rain." Something to think about the next time it seems that Lewis is disappearing into the distance.

Lotus' first revolutionary car.

I was going to put up a post about F1 following NASCAR's lead & having a dirt track GP. I decided not to. FOM might get the wrong idea & actually try it.

I don't think my idea to put chicken wire over the front of the Halo bar to stop dirt clods would go over well. However, Alonso might try the Velcro-attached air intake dirt screen on his brake ducts.

Hey Jeri you trying to take Haas' only job this season away from them.  :tease:
