General F1 Discussion / Re: cost of Perez's shunt
« Last post by John S on Today at 12:52:58 PM »When they use a spare monocoque Lonny they have to build another spare in case of further shunts, so it hardly matters whether cost of spare is in budget or not because price of one monocoque will be added come what may.
Presumably all teams run a contingency amount in budget for happenings like this, too many big shunts though will lead to loss of money for newly developed parts eventually in a season. Could make the difference between winning a championship in a really competitive year.
We haven't seen a down to the wire season yet in new cost cap era. Maybe it happens this year.
