Whats with the ugly noses this year, surely it was not that much of a surprise when the regs came out?! It can't be only McLaren who have made the car look good?! Awful looking truly awful. Actually the more I look at the nose the more it reminds me of a blade! Surely thats not very safe?!

Sauber unveils its 2012 F1 car at Jerez

Sauber C31

Sauber became the sixth Formula 1 team to unveil its car for the 2012 season on Monday morning when the wraps came off the new Ferrari-powered C31.

The Swiss squad finished in seventh place in the standings in 2011 after scoring 44 points following a strong start to the season.

After a drop in performance during the middle part of the year, Sauber managed to keep rival Toro Rosso at bay thanks to two point-scoring results in the final races of the season, thus securing seventh position.

The team will have an unchanged line-up for 2012 in Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Perez.

The Hinwil-based squad will start the season without its technical director James Key, who announced last week he was leaving the team he had joined at the start of 2010.

"Our goal is to finish regularly in the points so as to put ourselves in a significantly better position in the World Championship," said team boss Peter Sauber.

"We are looking forward to another season working with our young and talented drivers. Kamui will be competing in his third full season in F1. Last year we asked him to take on leadership responsibilities within the team and he has grown into the role.

"With his rookie season behind him Sergio is now approaching his second season, which is often the most difficult in a driver's Formula One career. Both drivers have huge potential and will work with the same race engineers as in 2011 to continue developing that promise."

Sauber's new car is expected to complete its first run at Jerez later morning.

I reckon the midfield teams all realised that it's only the very front end that needs to be below the height, so to save money and not have to redesign the whole front end of the car, including suspension, they have gone for the compromise. Also they have all had to put a lot of resources into the back end with no diffuser blowing allowed this year, smaller teams tend to develop last years car rather than start with a blank sheet.

That doesn't explain Ferrari's ugly snorter though???    We'll have to wait for RBR and Merc to reveal, - now will they be Lumpy or Lean?

Oh yeah, and where is the new more red livery that Peter Sauber has been talking about?  Looks like great swathes of black to me, - unless of course either me or him has become colour blind.  :D

Thats would appear to be it, but seriously what is going on at Ferrari? No excuse for them. Red Bull at 1pm today though, surely Newey has not design something that ugly looking!

That is one gawd-awful ugly car.  Is that the best Willi could come up with?

That is ugly. What it needs is a sponsor along the nose to break up that horrible step
