My hero. RIP, well done.

Some race cars have Pirelli tires.
Some race cars have Mercedes engines.
Some race cars are designed by Ferrari.
EVERY race car has a Gurney flap.
How many people have a car part named after them?
If people like Enzo Ferrari, AJ Foyt and Jackie Stewart are legends, that word seems too small for Gurney.

Thanks for the memories Dan, we may never see your like again.
R.I.P true gentleman racer.

He was my hero going back to the 60's. He's still the only American to win an F1 race in a car that carried his name - A Gurney Eagle.
Another thing that made him a hero to me in my youth - he proved that tall guys could be great racers.
R.I.P., Dan. You were truly one of a kind, and you did it with style.
