Great find Dare.
I just love that Lotus 79. There is something about it that is just right even if it is responsibe for a lot of today's aero problems.

What the 79 has is perfect proportions and clean lines. Compare it to Chapman's previous effort when he was experimenting with ground effect - the Lotus 78. It is ugly, too long and flat at the front, too built up and complicated at the rear, protuberances and intakes all over the shop. The 79 is pure form meets function, nothing is wasted.
It was so good that most of the teams produced a carbon copy of it in the next year and one of them, the Williams FW07, was to win the championship in 1980. The Tyrrell copy proved that you had to get the underneath bits right too, however.
