Can't really tell who was driving it, but I swear I saw a Red Bull logo on the back of his racing suit (I'm not baiting you Vintly, that's what it looks like to me, and he certainly wasn't as tall as Webber).  Maybe Ricciardo flew over from Silverstone?

On a side note, Ricciardo was fastest in testing today, but unfortunately not in the car he is applying for, but in the STR.   :DD

Jeez that is one sorry sight to see  :'( :'(

But I must praise the guy at least crashing it doing what it was meant to be doing i.e racing, scorching through tracks, not being put in museum, and catch the rust  :good: :good:

I hope they will be able to restore it to the full..

Classic Team Lotus will be able to handle it I'm sure. And I agree, I like to see these cars being pushed a little. When Franchitti drove Clark's Lotus 38 he went so slowly he barely kept the engine running. I don't say try for 10/10ths, but you should go fast enough for people to get a feel for the car as it raced. I can't believe it's almost 50 years since Clark won at Indy. Man, I feel old just thinking about it.  :(

Perhaps because it was Jim's car, Franchitti himself didn't wanted to push it to the limit, actually can't blame the lad, it was Jim's car.

Oh yes, he said as much. He says`Clark was his boyhood hero and he was pretty awestruck at being allowed to drive the car. Here's his thoughts:

I love the way the nose-on photo accentuates how far offset the Lotus 38's suspension was.

I can't blame Dario for taking it easy. First, Colin's creations were (and still are) known for their fragility. Second, the car is a half century old. Finally, who would want to be known as the guy who trashed Jimmy's Indy Lotus?
