Bionic Eye
« on: January 21, 2008, 09:58:10 AM »
A new contact lens called the “Bionic Eye” has been developed that contains circuits, LEDs and electrical components that can enable us mere human to have super-human vision. This news comes from researchers at the University of Washington and some of the applications are as follows:

Surf the Web
Immersive video games
Be used for people with visual impairments,

Yeah, I'm really going to shove contact lenses in my eye to surf and play games.  :DntKnw:

The lenses at present have only been tested on rabbits (what? Rabbits have perfect vision? yuk yuk yuk) and there has been no negative effects, but electrical circuits consist of toxic chemicals, but they have been built from tiny layers of metal. Scientists are however, trying to create a basic version which will be available in the future.

Anyone fancy a game of a WW1 flight sim - Contact! (see what I did there?.... Get it?.... Oh never mind)
