You are right BD, Mark wouldn't do it, but oh my, wouldn't  it be good, as long as noone was hurt.

:DD  :DD  :DD , I wouldn't mind if Vettel have to take for few months  ;)

No, no, I don't think it's a good idea to say anything like that, even jokingly, F1 is still classed as a dangerous sport, despite the sanitised circuits.

Just have Webber accidentally hold him up at a crucial time, or disobey team orders with a faulty radio.  Much more appropriate :).

I always liked Mark, he raced hard but fair and said what he was thinking without PC worries. But I lost some respect for him when he went mountain biking while leading the WDC with 3 races to run. If you really want to be a WDC, you don't engage in a high risk activity away from the track when you're in the position to win. That said, his wins at Monaco were world class. I hope a Le Mans win is in his future.

I agree with you Lonnie, when your leading the WDC you
need to have your priorities in line.Who knows if Mark would
have won the WDC that year would RedBull have treated
him differently.

On another thought I wonder what Vettel thinks of having
Kimi as a teamie?Does he have any choice in who his teamie is?
and I wonder how Marko would handle it.

Good things seldoms happens, so Mark doing a proper farewell of putting SebVet into the wall will not be happenning  :'(  :'(

A good thing he could do would be to start putting in some second place finishes, like he's supposed to  ;)

Well obviously that might have shifted the priority of RBR towards Vettel, but still over the years they could have given him a bit more friendly environment to flourish. Still a top act in the paddock, nevertheless

Come on vintly, he has done it for quite a number of years, didn't he? All we asking him to give us a farewell that suits him  :D

Only two podiums this year, and just one second place. Not good for a number two driver.

Believe it or not, I'd love Mark to take Vettel out, do something crazy, it would make for THE story of the year, and sparks would fly - fantastic entertainment. Maybe there will be some added needle between the two Bulls, now Webber's unshackled himself. He might perform better, create some action on track.

Now that's the Vintage Vintly we all know & love, despite being a Vettel fan  :good: :good:

But I think as he is already decided to leave, the chance of better results are much less, as because the engineers will be knowing the aspiration is no more there, a tendency of imporving the car for the team instead for Mark's own will be far less. I would love see what you are asking for vintly but in reality its a very cruel place for such fairytale things to be happening.

I think Mark would be doing much better this season if RBR wasn't Team Vettel. The Porsche LMP1 effort is looking better & better.

BBC talked to Heikki Kovalainen during FP2 this morning. It seems that he has been talking with Christian Horner. Heikki & Christian have history together, so maybe he might be in line for #2 behind Seb.

I rate Webber a lot higher than Kovalainen.  However if they think he has more potential than we've seen of him in F1, then he might be just the 2nd driver that they can train while he is tail gunning for Vettel.  Plus he's quite a bit older than Vettel, so surely if he joins, he is joining knowing that there is no future for him at RBR beyond Vettel's reign.

Please tell me there is nothing to this story.  The last thing I want is to have something screw up a Kimi move to RBR.  Maybe they are just trying to grind Kimi a bit in the negotiations.  He might be telling RBR that he will see how things go this season and talk in the fall, while RBR would prefer to nail down their second driver sooner than later.

Horner was unhappy Webber gave the team only minutes notice before he announced he was leaving.  I guess he figures RBR has always been very considerate towards Mark?   :fool:

I guess that means that Horner was the only person in F1 who hadn't figured out that Mark wouldn't be with RBR next season.

I'm allowed to say that I don't find the jokes funny, and will continue to do so when I feel that they are overstepping the line :).

Back to the topic at hand.  I find the Kovalainen story to be unlikely.  He had his chance at McLaren, and was found a little bit wanting.  He's a great driver to lead small, and midfield teams, but I don't think that this is what Red Bull will be looking for.  I think that they would rather promote one of the Toro Rosso drivers, if either ups their game for the rest of this season, but if not, then I think that they would go for Raikkonen, assuming they can pay him enough.
