  • I wish I remember which site I saw it, but someone was presenting it as a 'David vs Goliath' story.

I'm not entirely sure who is supposed to be David and who is supposed to be Goliath in this scenario!

  • Wow...didn’t even know this was in production.  Looks like fun even with the exaggerated car stunts.

  • One thing that worries me about the trailer is that it looks like it's going to be way too harsh on Henry Ford II.

Ironic that the trailer was released just shortly after Ford announced its withdrawal from sports car racing. They couldn't wait any longer for the FIA to figure out the rules for next year's "Hypercar" series.

It's also a very sad reminder of have far Ford has fallen from the days when it was run by car people to today, when it's run by "businessmen." It's almost enough to bring a lifelong "Ford guy" to tears.

Henry Ford was the ultimate businessman, much of the modern world is built on his ideas.  The moving assembly line wasn't an inevitable invention.  The idea of bringing all your raw materials to one location and spitting out completed cars wasn't inevitable either.

However, Ford's best invention was the $5 day.  He had this crazy idea to turn his massive, and growing, work force into a middle class who could actually buy things.

He also had this idea of using his profit to grow the business to hire more people... It was the Dodge brothers who ruined everything by making the shareholders the most important people in a business.

I am sad to see 'car culture' evaporating before our eyes.  However, Ford himself would be on the lookout for what comes next.

  • I agree that Henry Ford wasn't a car guy. That's why he stayed with the Model T until it was a laughable anachronism. He kept Ford products saddled with transverse buggy springs, solid front axles and mechanical brakes long after other marques had moved on. He had bursts of brilliance, like the original Ford V8, but, like a "business man," he seldom advanced from them.

Edsel Ford & Henry the 2nd (HF2) were car guys. They gave us the original Lincoln Continental & Continental Mk II. HF2 also gave the world Ford's "Total Performance" philosophy of the 60's. If there was a major race series just about anywhere, Ford was there in full force. F1, Indy, NASCAR, drag racing, rally, British Touring Cars, off road, you name it.

I'd suggest that the moving assembly line was an inevitability, Ford simply took Olds' auto making philosophy to the next level.
It also seems that the moving assembly line wasn't even an invention of the 20th century.
