Why no Times from Barcelona test for Massa?
« on: January 22, 2010, 08:54:36 PM »

In this report from Autosport no times have been issued by Ferrari, could it be Valentino Rossi has out gunned him and it would prove embarrassing to post Felipe's times?

On Thursday the MotoGP champion set a time of 1m21.900s during a qualifying simulation late in the afternoon. Although direct comparisons are impossible as Rossi was using a 2008 Ferrari chassis fitted with GP2 specification slick tyres, Jenson Button's pole time at the venue last year was a 1m20.527s, while Kimi Raikkonen took the top spot on the 2008 grid with a 1m21.813s.

Felipe Massa reckons he is in perfect shape to get down to work with his new Ferrari from the start of next month after completing a day behind the wheel of an F2008 at Barcelona on Friday.

The Brazilian completed around 90 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya at the wheel of a two-year old car, which was fitted with demonstration tyres because of Formula 1's testing ban rules.

No times were issued after his run, but Massa was delighted with how the day had gone.

"It was a perfect way to optimise my form here in Barcelona," he said.

I wonder too John as they posted Rossi's
times

I have had a good look round trying to find published times to quash the rumour mill, but I can't find anything. Only reports of him being happy or fired up.  :DntKnw:

I hope everything is OK.

Me too, I'm looking forward to seeing Felipe back.  :good:

I wonder if it is at all to do with the fact that Massa's test is unofficial given that he is a Formula 1 racer and he was testing on display specification tyres (according to Autosport Rossi raced on GP2 spec tyres, a different sort to Massa) so his laps would perhaps not be fully representative of his speed?
