A Russian thief has come mighty close to pulling of the heist of the year and taking the title of 2006's Greatest Criminal Mastermind.
The unnamed man was attempting to steal a herd of cows from a field in the historic port city of Kaliningrad, reports the Metro.
Upon rounding up the cows, the man needed to moo-ve them quickly, so he ingeniously thought of taking them on a bus.
He had previously arranged for one to be made available and began shepherding his loot into the vehicle.
Once onboard, the thief began making his way home, but he soon herd a police siren following him and went hell-for-leather to outrun the law.
The police soon caught up with him however, and arrested him despite his protests of innocence, which officers described as udder nonsense and a load of bull.
When the man was taken back to the station he told police that he put the animals in a bus because he assumed that officers would not search such a vehicle while looking for a herd of cows.
