The only place in the U.S. that has shown any interest at all in F1 is Indy. Indy did a better job of putting on an F1 race than any other venue I've ever been to. The only stumbling block seems to be that IMS doesn't want to turn a loss on the event just so Gollum, I mean Bernie, can get even richer.

It's funny, I get the feeling everyone believes that the 2005 disaster that Goodyear brought killed interest in the USGP... everyone except the fans.  They came back for 2006 and 2007, and would have kept coming back.

I have no way to back this up, but I'd bet that Indianopolis has the best racing fans in the world.  They love the Indy500, the love the Brickyard400, and the loved the USGP.  You've got to make a genuine effort to screw that up.

Indy oozes racing heritage, F1 is crazy to have stopped tapping into that.  It would be amazing to make a return to the venue.

Indy is also home to the most prestigious drag race of the year, the U.S. Nationals. They are held at Indianapolis Raceway Park. It has both a drag strip and an oval track.

IRP would always have a USAC Sprint Car race on the night before the USGP. My motel is about halfway between the two tracks, and we would always get a few carloads of F1 fans from other countries and go to it.

Yes, I definitely meant Michelin.  However if Goodyear stuck with the sport, we wouldn't have had the problem either...  ;)
