GG race posting deadline change
« on: March 16, 2010, 01:30:21 AM »
To try and cut down on errors and to make
life easier were going to change the deadline
to post from one hour before the race to 1am
Sunday morning race day.

This way I can get all the picks inputted before
bedtime and not have to search thru the posts for
changes in the picks.

Having the qualifying and race picks separate
is more work for us but I believe it makes the
game more interesting and I won't tamper with
it.

I'll post a link to the London time so others
outside the UK won't miss the deadline.I
hope this is satisfactory with all.

                   Thanks Dare

I think this is a good call.

Not only does it make life easier for the GG moderators (god knows they need it) but they have managed to do it in such away it doesn't affect the pole picks - good stuff!  :good:

Good call Dare, keeps the essence of the game alive having separate pole pick, :good: whilst allowing you a Schumi style nap ahead of the race :D

Good one Dare, I take it that we can still change our picks as long as it's before the 1am deadline.  :good:

I'll post a link to the London time

Is that London, U.K. or London KY, Dare?  ;)

Judging by the link, I'm going with London, England.

I'd like to suggest a new feature for the GG, the 'Standard Pick'

At some point in the season, (say, the first European Race), allow us to lock in a 'Standard Pick'.  That way, if for some reason we can't post our picks for the race, we have a 'fall back' position.  If we do put in our picks, then that would obviously override the 'standard pick'.

It would be a shame with a full grid to lose a couple of players that are busy on race weekends.  The 'Locked in' nature of it doesn't really provide any advantages to the individual players, but it does keep the game going overall, which is more fun for everyone, and a great way to keep people involved if they have a 'lost weekend' from reasons out of their control.

That sounds like a great idea for GG regulars Jeri. I would hate to miss a weekend due to unforeseen circumstances.
