What do you do? And how does it affect what you love in F1??

Time for a little F1 related get to know the members....

Personally I fix photocopiers for a living.  So, obviously working with cutting edge technology in this field, I have a great passion for the new cars and the various forms of technology assosciated with them.  Don't get me wrong I truly enjoy the driving skill, the challenging tracks, the team rivalry and I respect where the sport has come from.  But the most exciting time in any season of F1 for me is that countdown on the F1 website, as the time ticks away I try to keep up with the developments as much as possible, and I become a 10 year old little boy again waking up on christmas morning to open my presents.  Nothing beats the rush that I get from seeing all the new developments of the off season being seen for the first time in a race situation.

Maybe a little geeky?  But hey it comes from what I do for work.

Please join in faithful members!

What a coincidence! I have also fixed photocopiers for most of my working life. About 16 years ago I got frustrated with the company I worked for and decided to start my own dealership and I'm still going today. My company sell the Nashuatec range of machines from NRG, I mainly sell them now along with all the other typical office products. What make do you fix romephius?

Anyway, I have always loved motor racing from childhood despite my Dad's attempts to get me interested in his great love - steam trains  :lazy: I used to follow many other types such as Super bikes and Touring cars but now I only get to see these on the odd occasions.

F1 however is still the greatest for me, despite people saying its boring I still watch every race religiously with a true sense of excitement. This effects the cars I buy and every car I buy is faster than the last.

Monty, are you interested in the GPWizard Karting Trophy that will be happening some time this year? oops sorry Monty just read your post in the karting thread  :-[

I'm an electrial engineer but now I have become 'The Management' I drive a desk / laptop most of the time.
My passion is motor racing. I love all types and regularly attend meetings including F3, British Super Bikes, drag racing, British Touring Cars, and even club meets at Brands which is my most local track. I used to go to every British F1 event and a few overseas races (Spa, Monaco, San Marino). Because in recent years F1 has become processional and at times boring (added to my lack of time and money) I now follow F1 strictly from my favourite armchair.
If 'racing' (you know things called overtaking, wheel rubbing, etc.) returned to F1 I would probably get back to my favourite spot near Bridge, but until then the armchair will do.

I design, install and troubleshoot computer systems. I've worked with computers since the days of the IBM 360 and Digital 1170 back in the 1970's. I've been an F1 fan since my childhood in the 60's. My love of computers is an obvious tie-in to modern F1. This year at the USGP I a first hand look at the computer set-ups of several of the teams. It was a real eye-popper, even for a long time F1 cyber-geek. Even I didn't expect to see server stacks built into the race engineer pit wall stands. By the way, the money differences do spread to the PC's, too. The differences as one walks up the line from Super Aguri's BIVOUC to that shiny red mansion at the other end of the pits is stunning!

I mostly work on Konica Minolta, however I am able to fix Kyocera, I have also recently gotten certified on the Oce wide format colour system TCS500.  I am a colour and connectivity specialist.  I am also partial management, seems wierd I know but I am a contract manager for 2 of our largest sites, one of them sees about $20,000 per month in copy revenue from only 10 machines.  It's what keeps me so busy, the only thing I make time for is my F1.  Nothing gets in the way of that.
