Is Whitmarsh the problem at Maclaren?

This is purely an opinion based on what we are allowed to see as spectators and TV viewers but Whitmarsh seems to be involved in most of the bad strategic decisions, Maclaren seem to have more staff unrest since he took over and (possibly most obvious) the drivers seem to be more outspoken (negative) than Maclaren drivers ever were when Ron was in charge.

I don't know...I hate firing the coach because a player screws up.  The guy who needs to be fired is the guy who didn't pull out the vent cover, followed closely by the engineer who said it would be fine to leave it in and begin the race.

You could say the same with Ferrari and Stefano, new boss, new rules. Personally I prefer both teams under their new TP's, more open and much more good humoured. There will be more mistakes because of this. Martin has to put his own stamp on things, bring in his own people and deal with stupid mistakes like at Monaco. They had them under Ron too, it will be interesting to see what the team becomes under Martin.

I think what we see is Martin taking it on the chin for the team when he is being interviewed, I would be suprised if he is behind all the decisions taken at the team.

To err is human so I'm not sure I subscribe to the hang em high philosophy, pit crews have to put up with drivers mistakes and bad judgements all the time, a much quoted phrase still applies "We win together so we lose together".
