Fisi Qualifies at Le Mans

The AF Corse Ferrari F430 GT of Fishicella, Alesi and Vilander has qualified 6th of 18 in the GT2 class for this week-end's 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their time was 4:02.492. The Risi Competizione Ferrari F430 GT was first in the class with a time of 3:59.223.

The other AF Corse Ferrari qualified 7th. It was later severely damaged when Matias Russo took it backwards into the barriers at the Porsche Curves. As of now (Thursday morning) it is questionable for the start.

Fisi is really very fast!! It sounds good that he was 6th of 18 cars! I hope that Eurosport broadcast a part of the race because I have not seen any Fisi's racing yet in Le Mans series because it is not live here.

At the end of Thursday Afternoon Quali (21:00 LeMans time) Fisi's car has moved up to 2nd in GT2 behind the Risi car. Fisi's AF Corse car ran 3:59.837, Risi turned 3:59.223.

After final qualifying, Fisi, Jean and Toni will begin in 39th place (4th in GT2 class). The Corvettes vaulted past. Still, considering that only one of the three has been to Le Mans in the past two decades, I am seriously impressed

The other AF Corse has been withdrawn due to vast quantities of damage.

The pole-winning Risi (#82) has been given its marching orders to the back of the grid because its rear spoiler was the wrong size. As a result, Fisico is up to P3 in class.

Speed Channel just explained what happened with Risi. The Gurney Flap on the spoiler was too short. Also, it was missing half of its attaching bolts. That would let it flatten out at speed & reduce drag.
