Little track time for Marc Gene in 2007
« on: January 13, 2007, 07:46:18 PM »
Marc Gene says his role at Ferrari this year will be significantly reduced due to the tighter test restrictions.

The Spaniard has extended his stay at the Maranello based team to include 2007, but with Luca Badoer in the primary test role, Gene's lighter load has allowed him to sign on with Peugeot for the ALMS Series and Le Mans.

Each team may only run basically 30,000km in testing during the '07 calendar year.

"My role now has more to do with the engineers," Gene is quoted as saying by f1total.com, also admitting this his actual track schedule will almost stop.

"On the circuit only some aerodynamic tests (for me) are planned, but I will still spend many days in Maranello," he said at the Madonna di Campiglio media event in Italy.

Gene, meanwhile, said he has seen Ferrari's new car - to be launched on Sunday - and noted that it is 'an evolution' of the winning 248 F1 rather than a totally new concept.

The Stig
