He is apparently having fun rallying, he doesn't have to deal with the media, fans, and sponsors to any great degree, and he is finding it a real challenge. Why would he want to come back to F1?

Lonny

Yacht party after crashing out?

A ride back to the pits for ice cream?

That said, he is a former champion and that alone would be a good draw for sponsors. Problem is though is Kimi really interested in F1 anymore?

...fact is, is F1 interested in KR anymore?

i think not as if they were the teams would not have let him go - but they did

..end of road for the laziest, least committed driver in F1 history.

well, I for one deplore his arrogance and laziness and so do/did the F1 teams

his attitude to the sport which paid him millions was despicable and insulting - you just don't bite the hand that is feeding you, especially so generously...and his disdain of the fans or anything but himself is reprehensile.

a pox on KR and all his ilk.

just my opinion is all.

That's part of why we want him back.  The laziest, least committed driver did win a championship.  What could he do if he TRIED?

He had skill, and really did stick things out for Ferrari in 2009 when the car was terrible, and the team went through so much turmoil.  He could be the best thing F1 ever saw.

But if he doesn't want to be there 100%, then he doesn't belong.

I think that describes Senna pretty well, too.

sorry, I cannot agree with your assessment Lonny

SENNA was no saint but ayrton never forgot his fans and never dodged his PR responsibilities AND he spoke clearly and with some enthusiasm as well

also KR was once described as "......having the work ethic of a 1960's hippie." something you could never say about AS or almost all other F1 drivers since then.

I consider that once he got his WDC, kimi lost all interest and hunger for F1 and as Jeri sagely suggests: "......if he doesn't want to be there 100%, then he doesn't belong."

I was speaking only of his self involvement. Senna put Senna first at all times. Arrogance personified.

......or an intensity and focus on winning that was frightening and 'over the top'?

however, AS never lost his hunger for F1 - KR has and, coupled with his legendary reluctance to front up to mandatory press conferences and similar, is why I doubt any team would want to have him.

It is true that Kimi 'appeared' to be lazy and lacking in commitment but we don't know what was going on in Ferrari at that time. Perhaps he was frustrated and didn't feel he was getting support. There is no doubt he is very talented but the big question is what does he want to do. I'm sure nobody will pay him the kind of salary he was (still is) enjoying from Ferrari so it won't be money that brings him back. He will have to really want to drive in F1 and personally, I do not think he does.
My own reasons for not wanting him back relate to his miserable and monosylabic interviews. ;)
