Bugatti Type 51 Grand Prix Car for Sale

A rare 79-year-old Bugatti Type 51 will be the highlight at the RM Auctions’ Aug. 14 Sports & Classics of Monterey auction.

The vintage car raced in 17 European Grand Prix events and is said to be one of the best surviving models of its kind, which comes complete with its original bodywork, engine and gearbox. The iconic car, chassis #51132, is expected to sell for between $3.5 million and $4.5 million.

The seller is a British private collector and if the Bugatti Type 51 goes for $4.5 million, it would be the highest price ever paid for a Grand Prix racing Bugatti.

Maybe Virgin, since the Bugatti doesn't have a big enough feul tank to finish a race, either.
