No F-duct for McLaren at Monza?
« on: August 24, 2010, 12:38:19 PM »

Now if this report is correct have McLaren really found more speed from some new evo of the blown diffuser which the F-duct will compromise, or are they playing the mind games we so often see from teams?   :o

McLaren are set to remove their F-duct for the first time at the Italian Grand Prix according to reports.

The Woking-based team where the pioneers of the device that boosts straight line speed by allowing drivers to channel air through the car and onto the rear wing, effectively 'stalling' the wing and preventing it from creating downforce which reduces drag, allowing the car to reach higher speed. However, according to reports on Autosport they have decided against using the F-duct at the Italian GP.

While the Monza track includes the highest speed areas of the season, the track requires a low-wing set-up which would mean that there is not enough drag for the F-duct to get rid of, meaning the device would be pointless.

Many teams decided against using the F-duct at Monaco earlier this season. But McLaren maintained the device, in part because they had no alternative set-up.

Yeah. if you can run more down force and dump it when you don't need it, why wouldn't you use it? :DntKnw:

I think you are right there Scott.
There is no way McLaren will not use the F- Duct at Monza.

Have a nice time there Scott and Ian. Remember to get Alonso's autograph for me  :D hehe

Hmmm, fit, sexy, I'm thinking Danica here, don't know anyone in F1 who's fit and sexy.

Just look for a pair of big, fuzzy eyebrows with a screaming Spaniard behind them.

or......

Go to the Ferrari catering rig. Find Massa, then wait for the guy who'll try to cut the queue in front of him, screaming, "I'm hungrier than him!"

She hates F1, it's just that Mark's picture has been in the paper on quite a few Mondays this year  :good: :good:

I threaten her that if she would rather me pick a different sport to watch on TV, it might be hockey (long season, games 6 nights per week most of the time), or worse yet, soccer (on satellite I can watch it 7 days a week for at least 4-5 hours a day).  I think once every couple of weeks for a few hours per weekend is a much better deal for her  :D :D
