Video of first laps of Korean track with Karun
« on: September 06, 2010, 09:32:54 PM »

This is a vid of the first laps Karun did in the Red Bull at the Korean circuit. For me the track looks mostly ready apart from a lot of cosmetic work, there is still 7 weeks to the race so enough time I guess, not sure about the buildings and other infrastructure though.

Not very impressive...looks like there is a LOT of cosmetic work to be done, including another couple of inches of asphalt just to bring it up to the kerbs.  One set of stands so far as I could see.  And the driver didn't even seem to know when the first hairpin was coming up - I wouldn't put that video on my resume if I was Karun.

As the saying goes, 'It will be nice when it's finished'. Or if it's finished!!

Typical of new tracks: a couple of long straights ending in tight corners, and a twisty section where passing will be impossible. It looks very unfinished, and the asphalt is obviously uncured and very slick. >:(

That 180 degree hairpin exit from the pits should be interesting!  ;) Since they had curtains hanging over what should be the pit in lane, I have to assume that it is far from finished. I saw lots and lots of concrete freeway barriers. I guess they were hiding something, too.

This past Wednesday, Midweek Motorsports on Radio LeMans reported that Herr Tilke is saying that the track has "fallen even further behind schedule" due to weather.
