F1- Alonso vows bald head for title glory
« on: January 18, 2007, 06:53:53 PM »
World champion Fernando Alonso has promised to cut off the rest of his hair should he win a third consecutive drivers' title this year.

During Spanish television network Telecinco's live coverage of the spectacular McLaren launch in Valencia, the 25-year-old participated in a light-hearted segment with the coverage's host.

Using a whiteboard, the host wrote down questions for Alonso.  In Spanish, one of them read: "Are you going to be champion again (in 2007)?"

Predicting six race wins and four poles for the season, Alonso wrote: "Si".

The host then wrote: "Will you shave the rest of your hair if you are right?"

With a whiteboard marker, Alonso again answered: "Si".

He also identified Williams are the likely 'letdown of the year', and his Renault successor Heikki Kovalainen as 2007's "surprise".

Twice, Alonso wrote "0" when asked how many car failures and FIA penalties he would cop this year.

His 2006 championship rival Michael Schumacher, meanwhile, appears to be enjoying a leisurely retirement, if the latest television advert for Fiat is to be believed.

In the Italian commercial, the seven time title winner is wearing overalls and boots and driving a red van bearing the words: "Michael -- the quick gardener"

Ive got a patch at my house which could use a quick gardener

The Stig
