Heikki Kovalainen led this week’s final Jerez de la Frontera Formula 1 testing day by a comfortable margin over teammate Giancarlo Fisichella in another trouble-free run for the new Renault R27.
The Finn’s quickest lap of 1:19.185 was the best time recorded at the Spanish circuit this week. Kovalainen covered 112 laps versus 68 for Fisichella, who ended up 1.3s off the Finn’s pace. The Italian’s R27 stopped at the track once during the day.
Super Aguri's Takuma Sato completed the day’s runners. The Japanese driver took over from teammate Anthony Davidson and logged 115 laps, with a best run of 1:20.688 in the interim SAF1 car.
