And who can say whether the impact stunned Webber or not? He may not have been able to apply the brakes.

Must say though I find Christian's words, quoted below from Planetf1.com defending Mark against Berger's allegations, do not totally clear Mark from possible culpability over the incident. Christian seems to indicate that Mark chose to allow the car to keep moving rather than attempting to bring it to a halt by braking. Since the team has far more than just the video evidence to go on was Christian just caught on the hop, or are his words more deliberately chosen?

"After Mark's impact with the wall, it was clear on the TV and from the data that his car was badly damaged.

"However, the natural and immediate instinct of any competitive driver is not to give up and to keep going.

"In the atrocious conditions, Mark made the snap decision to continue as every driver would in that situation.

I know I have accused Webber of letting the red mist get the better of him at times (and I still believe it to be true) but to say that he planned to take out other drivers, after what turned out to be a fairly big hit, is total rubbish.
If he had time to do any planning at all it would be self-preservation. If he thought the car was going to suffer a front end impact he may have moved his feet as far out of the pedal box as possible. To hell with braking if the impact then breaks your ankles!

I must be getting soft!  ;) However, this accusation against Mark was ridiculous.

Gerhard Berger and Dieter Mateschitz are great buddies.

Either it is another piece in a conspiracy puzzle that has been unfolding all year, with a view to helping Vettel win.  Or they have figured out that the best way to get Webber going is to wind him up.  Either way its working.  Jack Brabham seems to be subscribing to the latter as well.

An interesting idea, that drivers must be 'managed' in order to win the championship.  I don't think that's all that new a concept around here, but it's not discussed often.

Webber's secret:  make him good and mad.

Vettel's secret:  let the little princess believe he's entitled to win

Schumacher's secret:  let him have final say over every detail of the team, including teammate contracts.

Alonso's secret:  selection of teammate's finishing position, whether it be second, or in a wall.

Button's secret:  give him a car with a secret weapon.

Kimi's secret:  withold ice cream, and wait for McLaren to implode.

To add to your theme Jeri, which is great fun by the way, :good: I reckon:-

Barrichello's secret; - have an agony aunt on standby.

Kobyashi's secret; - have a sushi chef's uniform in plain sight in the garage.

Lewis:  - keep Jenson's race & tyre strategy on the very top shelf in the garage.

Hey this could go on forever. Good game Jeri :DD :DD :DD

Ok strategy geniuses, how can we wind Kubica up. I thought after practice 3 in Korea he might have a shot, but he couldn't match that pace in qually and everyone else went faster. :(

Seems an easy one to me, send him back to his hotel early after a practice session but let his teamate stay and soak up all the data and timing info. >:D
Robert loves to spend hours with the data boys and the engineers and is often the last driver to leave the track, so IMHO an early bath should wind him up a treat. :D

If the ice cream doesn't work with Kimi, cut off his bar tab!
