Vettel still a chance - oh no
« on: November 09, 2010, 03:09:20 AM »
A colleague has doen some calculations and found this one:

If Vettel wins, Webber 2nd, and Alonso 5th (probably assuming the McLaren’s 3rd & 4th), then all 3 drivers end up on 256 points.

Vettel will win the title by the fact that he will have 3 fourth place finishes to Alonso’s 2.  They would have the same wins (5), seconds(2) and thirds(3).  Webber would only have 4 wins, and therefore would finish third.

The closest title so far was between Lauda and Prost in 1984, when both in McLaren, and Lauda won by 0.5 point.

I have to pull for Webber because Alonso,Vettel, and Hamilton
will have more chances while I believe this is Mark's final
go for the WDC!! He may not even be at Red Bull next season

Interesting stuff Sprite, makes it a must watch race then. :good:

I'm sure the advantage lies with Mark and should it be necessary Seb will yield to his teamate. For me it comes down to reliability of the Red Bulls, which is why they were right not to move Vettel for Webber at the last race, as Ferrari seems to have left their dnf's behind. I just might put a few bob on Webber.  ;)
