Formula 1 will showcase many of its drivers and cars at a special ‘festival’ event in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday 3 February.
The centrepiece will be a demonstration run on a specially constructed 4km street course around the city waterfront, running from the Emirates Palace, along Abu Dhabi’s Corniche to the Marina Mall.
The event will also salute world champions Fernando Alonso and Renault in a ‘Tribute to the Champions’ gala ball at the Emirates Palace Hotel.
Access to the demonstration run will be free to the public and the organisers expect the majority of F1 teams to attend.
Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoon Al Nayhan, chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, said: “The ADTA is proud to host what will be the largest gathering of F1 cars and drivers ever assembled outside of a grand prix.
“We would like as many people as possible to enjoy the event.”
Formula One Management CEO Bernie Ecclestone added: “We are delighted to be bringing the excitement of Formula 1 to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
“The event will showcase some of the sport’s greatest current drivers, as well as the cars and teams that will contest the 2007 championship.
“I hope the whole community gets behind and enjoys this unique festival.”
